Alexander Technique
MY ALEXANDER JOURNEY
The Alexander Technique has been a companion throughout my career as a professional violinist, for over 40 years.
As I have a long neck it enabled me to radically change how I hold the instrument adapting the violin to me rather than the other way around.
It has been a support in the rigours and stresses of performance and the physical management of many hours of rehearsal, not to mention the long car journeys to venues.
It enabled me to address a back problem I was suffering from.
As an important part of my life and to deepen my understanding I had the privilege to enrol in the 3-year training course to be an Alexander Technique teacher and now enjoy being able to
communicate my enthusiasm for the Technique to others.
I run a CPD group for graduates of the Alexander Technique.
More recently I have been able to combine both music and
the Technique by giving some online and live sessions for the City of London Sinfonia’s Mindful Music series.
I teach privately in Surrey and Norfolk and I am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT).
