BIOGRAPHY AS A MUSICIAN

Jane Carwardine studied the violin at Wells Cathedral School and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno. She was a co-founder of the Guildhall Strings who went on to win major international prizes and travel the world making a Carnegie Hall debut in 1991.

It has broadcast on BBC Radio and recorded many CDs with RCA and Hyperion.

Jane has worked with many London chamber orchestras as well as Garsington Opera and Glyndebourne Touring Opera.

 

She also plays the baroque violin and has performed with Florilegeum and The Sixteen.

 

She was a member of the Kandinsky String Quartet for many years and

taught the violin at Southampton University.

 

For 18 years she has been the principal second violin with the City of London Sinfonia after becoming a member of the orchestra in the first violins, over 25 years ago.
